Sage
is a 13 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
suffering from Syringomyelia, a disorder of the spinal
column due to a congenital malformation known as
caudal occipital malformation syndrome or COMS. Her
neurologist suggested physical therapy as a means of
improving the effects of muscle wasting,
weakness, loss of coordination and imbalance brought
about by her condition and long term use of prednisone,
and she was referred to Dimitra Kofitsas of Tails of
Rye. Swimming in the hydrotherapy tank and walking on the Aqua
Paws treadmill have helped her regain
strength and function in her rear legs and improved
the quality of her life.
